Course Description:

This course will look at the OIG Work Plans for 2016 : the mid – year report from 2016 regarding healthcare related plans. The OIG work plans often drive the focus of governing bodies when it comes to audits and oversights. Knowledge of the work plans allows your organization to prepare and ensure that you are meeting all areas of compliance. This reduces your risk from poor outcomes when a governing body audits your organization. OIG Work plans often focus on areas of concern for fraud and abuse, they also look at how the governing bodies are monitoring themselves and their control over areas at risk for fraud or abuse.

The OIG work plan provides your organization with knowledge about not only what is being looked at but to what degree as well. This allows you to use this information to ensure that your organization has taken the time to ensure that compliance is present in all areas and that steps have been taken to eliminate practices, which could potentially be viewed as fraud or abuse. Given the level and intensity of regulations that are present in healthcare it is important that every organization do it’s part to reduce and eliminate potentially abusive or fraudulent practices.
